Youngcare

Aims & Objectives

Youngcare was founded in 2005 following the inspirational story of one woman's battle to find dignified and age-appropriate care. When Shevaune's loved ones realised that aged care was one of the only options available for young people with 24/7 care needs, they rallied together to end this enormous injustice. Every young person deserves to live a young life, regardless of their care needs. Aged care is no place for a young person. Youngcare works to get young people out of aged care by providing choice in care and housing options, and bring independence, dignity, and hope to young people with high care needs, their families and carers. Right now, over 7,000 young Aussies are living in aged care simply because there are few alternatives. A further 700,000 young people are living at home with loved ones, often with limited support. Through our key programs we are working towards a future where no young person has to call aged care home.
